In this episode of 48, Amanda and the crew travel through the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires, on a journey from the shanty towns to the most chic areas. Our local guide Macarena explains how the financial crisis of 2001 affected ordinary Argentinians, and shows up how they adapted to changed economic climate. She takes us to a workers co-operative formed when they broke into Hotel Bauen after management closed the doors. Macarena takes Amanda to meet Maira and Edith, working class turned members of the underclass, who are among Buenos Aires 'cartoneros,' people who sift through rubbish to find recyclable materials. After their 'shift' Maira takes the 48 crew to a nightclub playing 'Cumbia Villera', a controversial form of Colombian folk music born from the poverty of the slums, and scorned by the middle classes.

Famoso tren de Ferrocarriles Argentinos de los años 70¨ inmortalizado en el sitio www.expresobsastucuman.com.ar Con la valiosa colaboración de tres importantes empresas privadas vinculadas al riel, "Fiat Materfer, Cometarsa, e Industrias Cid", que fabrican material ferroviario, fue fil-mada una destacada película documental en colores, so-bre el "Expreso Buenos Aires Tucumán" del Ferrocarril Mitre. El film realizado por Producciones Cinematográficas en Eastmann Color, en 35 mm, tiene una duración de 10 minutos y lleva como título "Un Viaje de Ensueño". Su tema argumental se refiere exclusivamente a la gran jerarquía y confort de un tren que constituye un motivo de legítimo orgullo para Ferrocarriles Argentinos, por cuanto esta situado a la altura de los mejores trenes del mundo y define el notable adelanto alcanzado en la ma-teria por el país. La cámara hábilmente dirigida, recorre los elegantes inte-riores del convoy y capta en ágiles enfoques la como-didad y el magnifico servicio que el viajero disfruta a bordo, en un marco de singular refinamiento y exquisito buen gusto. Se aprecian interesantes detalles de la estación Retiro previos a la partida, pasajes del trayecto y arribo al Jardín de la República. A modo de racconto se registran las escenas auténticas que precedieron a la inauguración del "Expreso". Surge así un gigantesco esfuerzo que significó renovar a nuevo casi 400 Km. de vías en la provincia de Santiago del Estero y pudo verse la planta de impregnación de durmientes de Villa Constitución, las canteras de Alta Gracia y el plantel de Soldadura Aluminotérmica de Rieles, de donde se obtuvieron las enormes partidas de materiales que insumió la colosal obra. También en esta perspectiva del potencial ferroviario ar-gentino, certeras imágenes reflejan el estrecho apoyo de la actividad privada en la promisoria etapa de progreso que vive la empresa. Un excelente y bien logrado fondo musical, junto a la agradable voz que lleva el relato, completan el cuadro de una brillante realización cinematográfica, que ratifica un relevante éxito del Ferrocarril General Bartolomé Mitre, y permite difundir en toda la República y el exterior, la prestigiosa imagen actual de Ferrocarriles Argentinos. Como punto final podemos agregar que el film no repre-sentó gasto alguno para nosotros, dado que su finan-ciación corrió por cuenta de las tres firmas comerciales mencionadas al principio, a cuyos directivos, la adminis-tración del Mitre desea testimoniar públicamente su cor-dial saludo y gratitud. Se exhibió en salas cinematográficas de todo el país y se proyectó también en el exterior.

Mendez is in top form, which is pretty amazing considering how much he's already played and how out of breath he is from playing the Flight of the Bumble Bee in one breath just moments before. This piece showcases Mendez's brilliant lyrical abilities as well as his unrivaled technique. This performance is truly the work of the Master.
